MEB Moving Tips
Two months prior to move:

Make a list of people/companies that need to know you are moving.

Clean out items that will not make the move. Such as Food, Furniture or clothing.

Have a yard sale or call the Salvation Army or Big Brothers/Big Sisters
- Start a file of all moving paperwork

Research moving companies and schedule your moving date.
One month prior to move:
- Schedule Utilities to be turned on at your new home.
- Complete an address change request at the Post Office.
- Start packing, pack each room separately and label boxes to appropriate room

DO NOT PACK medications, passports, jewelry, cash or other important documents in with other things, keep these things in a safe place and carry with you. our credit card companies

Use the list that you created last month and contact all to inform of move. Remember businesses such as your Bank, 401K and other financial institutions. Also contact your Employer, Department of Motor Vehicles, Alma Maters, Airline frequent flyer clubs ,hotel clubs and other memberships (health clubs, CD clubs, Netflix, etc.)

Change voting registration address

Pick up Dry Cleaning
Three days prior to move:
- Finish packing
- Back up Computer files

Pack a Travel Kit for each member of your household; including clothing, bedding and toiletries. This should include medications and activity items such as a game or books.

Pack a travel kit for critical items such as your checkbook, credit cards, personal phone book, ID, Keys.

Pack a travel kit for your first night such as a flashlight, tools, paper plates, cups, towels, travel alarm clock, aspirin or pain reliever, bandages. You should include snacks.

Transfer prescriptions and be sure you have an adequate supply of medications on hand.

Have money orders/cashier's checks prepared to pay movers and new community management.

Confirm appointment time to sign new lease with your new MEB manager.
Moving Day :

Load the truck in order, last on the truck should be linens, towels, vacuum.

Check twice before leaving, go through all cupboards, closets, rooms

Write down all utility meter readings

Arrive before the movers to make sure everything goes according to plan.

Pick up Keys for your new MEB apartment

Check to see if all utilities have been connected
-
Unpack with a plan. Kitchen is usually the first, then bathroom, bedrooms and living areas.
